We all think we know what it feels like to be happy. We can remember some memories being happier than others. But how can we measure happiness in a quantifiable way?
Currently the most common way that researchers assess happiness is through self-reporting.
We simply ask people about their level of happiness, people consider their happiness level, and try to answer questions based on those feelings.
Most of the time when we’re talking about happiness, we’re talking about both momentary positive emotions and a deeper sense of purpose in life.

Is there another way we can measure happiness, can you measure and test happiness scientifically? At this point the self-assessments are one of the main measures used, often created in a scientific manner through research, testing, and norming.
This might make some of us think that happiness cannot be measured scientifically in a traditional sense.

Most of us can agree what may define a happy life. It’s the feeling of enjoying your life, and the desire to make the best of it.
Happiness is the guiding energy that can help us be and do our best. Researchers found when they studied happy people that they’re more successful on average. Happy people were also better at reaching their goals.

The results of one study showed that life satisfaction rises with personal and national income. However the findings also saw that positive feelings are more strongly associated with other factors like feeling respected, having freedom and social support, and having fulfilling work to do.

To be truly happy, you won’t need other people or material things.
Happiness can also be described as simply the consequence of positive personal effort and living a life with purpose.

Here are some strategies for increasing happiness in your life:
Be thankful and count your blessings. Take the time to engage in random acts of kindness for strangers or loved ones. Respond actively and constructively to situations, being joyful for others when they share good news with you. Practice compassion and empathy. Interact with others mindfully.
