Organic foods usually don’t contain toxic substances like chemicals, pesticides, drugs, or preservatives.
Studies have found that there are higher antioxidant levels in organically grown foods.
And the body’s immune system may even be strengthened by the consumption of organic food.
Let’s discuss the health benefits of eating organic, and whether buying organic food is worth it.
Is Buying Organic Food Worth It?
What Are The Health Benefits Of Eating Organic Foods?
Mounting evidence shows that foods grown organically are richer in nutrients, such as Vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus.
There are also lower levels of nitrates and pesticide residues in organically grown fruits, vegetables, and grains when compared to non-organic alternatives.
What Are The Benefits Of Organic Farming?
- Organic foods contain lower levels of chemicals.
- There are no genetically modified ingredients.
- Organic farming is usually better for the environment and nature.
- Organic farming is generally better for animal welfare.
- Organic farming may produce more nutritious food.
Is Organic Food Really Worth It?
Organic foods are healthier for the planet, because they support an agricultural system that avoids synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and promotes a more biodiverse ecosystem.
In production they generally pay more attention to the health of waterways, soil, air, wildlife, and climate.
Does Eating Organic Make A Difference?
As mentioned, studies have found that there are higher antioxidant levels in organically grown foods.
There’s also evidence that organic food has lower toxic, heavy metal levels and less pesticide residue. Organic eggs, meat and dairy products contain more omega-3 fatty acids.
Are Organic Eggs Healthier?

Grown crops may have fewer nitrates and more of certain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Organic dairy products and meat may have more omega-3 fatty acids.
What Are The Health Benefits Of Organic Agriculture?
On organic farms, the preventive use of antibiotics is restricted and animals are given more space to roam around in natural conditions, which lowers their risk for infections.
Techniques like this have been found to improve animal health, prevent disease, and minimize antibiotic resistance. (Source: www.healthline.com)
Are Organic Products Good For Human Health And The Environment?
Organic food is better for the environment. Organic foods promote healthier and more sustainable uses of natural resources.
Modern conventional farming methods include excessive use of chemicals and planting only one crop multiple times, known as mono-cropping.
Final Thoughts:
Because of higher levels of nutrients in organic foods, consuming them regularly can help strengthen our immune system and help us feel healthier overall.
Remember a green label doesn’t automatically make a food healthy. As an example, organic peanut butter cups may still have high sugar and fat content.

Thanks ! The price can be significantly higher on some organic items.. I went through a phase of buying all organic produce in the past, but due to budgetary reasons scaled that back somewhat…

Yeah it’s the same for me. I buy the organic products I can afford and buy the normal ones for the rest.

Informative post. One of the things about organic fruits and vegetables are that they taste much better. I use the dirty dozen list and do not buy anything on it. But some things like avocados are not full of pesticides and so I go non organic. Have a great day!
